CES 2017: Yi to launch world’s first action camera that records 4K videos at 60fps

NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi's subsidiary Yi recently confirmed that it will be showcasing a new drone at the CES 2017 tradeshow. The company has now unveiled an action camera to be displayed at the Las Vegas event.

Dubbed as the Yi 4K+ action camera, it will be the third action camera by the Chinese tech firm. The camera will also be the first to capture 4K resolution videos at 60 frames per second. It is likely to take on rival GoPro's Hero 5 in the market. The latter supports 30fps for 4K videos as of now.

The company has also announced a new drone it plans to showcase at the upcoming tradeshow. What makes the drone, named Erida, special is its tricopter design unlike conventional drones which have four rotors. In addition, the drone will come in a Carbon Fibre design.

As per the firm, the drone will be lightweight in design and touch speeds of up to 75mph. Similar to other drones available today, Erida will also let users control the camera settings manually while in flight using a mobile app. It will be able to shoot 4K videos as well. More details about the drone, especially those with respect to price and availability, will be revealed at the CES event.
