YouTube is experimenting with replacing the Google+ notifications with a new version of alerts. The two platforms were merged a while back and since then, notifications on YouTube have been tied with those from Google+.

According to a post on Google Operating System website, the new change is yet to be implemented on YouTube. It states that if users enable notifications from a channel, they will get an alert whenever a new video is uploaded from the subscribed channel. The post further adds that once users click on the Settings button, they'll be taken to the notification settings. Here, they can click on the three-dot icon next to each subscribed channel to turn the alerts On/Off. Alternatively, users can clear browser cookies for YouTube to opt out.
