Samsung has launched a new app that combines email, contacts and calendar offerings together. Dubbed Samsung Focus, the app is aimed towards both consumers and enterprises and is available on the Google Play Store.

Claimed to be a unified productivity application, Samsung Focus app merges work related aspects like IMAP, POP3 and Exchange ActiveSync in the background to provide users with a unified interface. The landing page of the app is similar to Google Now. It has a feed that displays everything from upcoming appointments to tasks and important messages.

Samsung Focus showcases information along with a search bar on top. At the bottom right corner, there is a button that can be used to start a new conversation, email or calendar entry.

Samsung Galaxy S8 may come with Bixby v1.0 digital assistant

Besides Bixby, a new UI feature may also be introduced in the Galaxy S8 - an always visible status bar. It would allow one swipe access to quick settings and toggles.

Tabs on the bottom panel enable quick access for each of the sections - Email, Calendar, Memo and Contacts. Other features provide information on other aspects, such as automatic calendar and unified views. There is a navigation bar present that helps users to identify specific accounts.

As far as data storage is concerned, the app stores all data on the phone and not on any cloud servers. This is due to the fact that there is no cloud backup provided by Samsung. It currently runs on Samsung devices running Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 and higher.

Samsung Focus supports Exchange Server 2003 SP2/SP3 and above, Google, Naver (IMAP/POP3), Office 365, Hotmail, Outlook and support for other servers that support Exchange ActiveSync (IBM Notes Traveler, Groupwise, Kerio, Zimbra, Horde, IceWarp, MDaemon).
